Replaced all my DB stock on the layout with DR stock, and am enjoying running some old friends.

There are more and larger (clickable) pictures at http://www.philobiblon.com/eisenbahn/current.shtml#DR and a video of many of the trains running at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBpaICcDp6U.

Looking forward to receiving my LVT172 Ferkeltaxe/Blutblase in that wonderful dark red soon. Had one in the DB mint color and was never happy with it. Also waiting for the AC version of the BR58.30.

Don't know how this Wessie got bitten by the DR bug, but there's something "echt deli" about it. Neat stuff. I like it. Now to start buying some more Trabis and related cars. Not too many though. Right now it looks like everyone aus'm Westen is visiting...

There are also pics of the current and past layouts including our n-scale modules on the site.

Enjoy,
p.

Peter,

Now there is change I can believe in   It gives new perspectives to change things around. Good thing you did not get bitten by the Epoch I bug! And I think Trabis are cool!

Peace,

Jim

I'll say, those things are funny looking, not quite as bad was US "Western" choo-choos though.

Nothing like two stroke and laminate. Really simple and easy to repair. Saw one between the MD/PA line and York, PA last year. Bright yellow with four big dudes in it. Tried to reach my camera, but couldn't. Was even doing 60. Here some DB Trabis

Added to my "collection" of DR motive power in the form of a 58.3 (the reconstructed versions of the old G12/BR58) and the VT172 Ferkeltaxe, a railbus. The 58.3 is Gützold's newest steamer, the 58130 for AC. Says it can go through radii of 380mm, got it through some of my 360mm with a little complaining (No comments please, I know I shouldn't be using it... ;-). Turnouts are mostly ok, interestingly enough more trouble tender first then forward. I run it analog and driving properties are quite smooth with good pulling power. Detailing is first rate and I was glad to see that the plasticy look of the wheels from the website had been toned down. The center 3rd cylinder and drive rods are also depicted and functional. Look forward to gently weathering this one.

Looks good with the DR stuff on, it makes me want to crack on with my layout to get my Ossie stock running. A consignment of tortoises arrived today, so if I just get some #4 woodscrews I should get closer to having some action. Oh, and there's the extension boards to build...

I'm loving the DB trabi, I wonder if I could get away with one in 1998?

Making good use of time at home over Christmas, I decided to start my own reko program by beginning to reconstruct and update parts of the main layout and the switching puzzle. First area of focus was the harbor area where the Schreiber card models I built almost 10 years ago were slated for demolition to be replaced with more milieu appropriate and to scale structures. Below a view of the area as it existed until 1 hour ago...

And here a view of things in process...

Happy New Year to all.

Spent more time last weekend working to get the roofs and numerous other details done. Next steps are weathering, then re-doing the sidewalks as well as the hinterhöfe (back yards). The space is tighter than I want it to be so the trick will be not overloading the scene.
