German Street Furniture of the 20's-30's

OK,

No doubt this has been asked on a few occasions but I could not find a specific heading, my apologies.

Apart from a few Berlin-Specific items from Woytnik and the Maibaum from H&P there seems to be a dearth of German street details. In my search, I have found the Ferro-Train (ex-Gerard) range from Wein to be pretty good a filling in some of the gaps. But items such as postboxes, grit and crossing-sweeper* bins are still thin on the ground. If, I could find some photos or plans/sketches, I could cast or etch them but so far not so good.

Could I ask for a reference on the internet for this sort of mundane but vital detail?

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

what kind of town or village are you thinking about?

Berlin looked different from Schweinfurt or Königshofen or Nordheim v.d. Rhön...

A tip: Have a look at German postcards from that time offered on eBay!

Christoph,

Apart from obvious regional differences, does you answer equate to the fact that there is very little street furniture available, apart from the above sources?

Tim,

no, I wanted to make a hint that - depending form the region and character of the town or village - street furniture is not necessary at all. In my home region there were never facilities for sweeping away horse apples (is his an English word?). Such animal "products" were collected by children or adults which needed them for the garden etc.

So in rural areas, there was not much street furniture in the streets. Maybe a bench in a small town or in front of a country house, but all in all not too much. So form the standpoint of the countryside modeller, I think it´s not too bad that there are not many things for street furniture.

Greetings from the Baltic Sea

Christoph
