Even though there is a fairly good selection of models in G-scale, there are
some large gaps in what is available. Luckily, there are more than a few models
from other hobby areas or scales that are usable. The following is not a
comprehensive list but shows models that can or have been used in Gn15 modelling
that you might not have thought about using.

chassis
Hornby BILL
or BEN, a cheap chassis with BIG Gn15 potential.
Smallbrook Studio do an 0-16.5 Peckett-style conversion kit
called EROS for this loco, some parts of which would
help in a Gn15 conversion.

The steam loco, based on BILL / BEN is not yet
finished but in its present state has a chimney from Steve Bennett
and other fittings from scratch!

Balding's model of Sir Arthur Heywood's KATIE built around a Hornby
BILL / BEN chassis.

Locomotive
chassis
The Saddle tank is a recently completed project and sits on a Hornby
PERCY chassis. It uses 16mm scale cab fittings,
bolts and rivets from Cambrian. They don't look out of scale.

Locomotive
chassisThe (Hornby) 06 shunter
simply has a new cab made from plastic-card and fittings again from Steve
Bennett .

Locomotive parts I used a 1/4" PSC capped stack and plastic Shay dome as
well as a Macleod Western fluted sand dome
for my Iris. These parts fit perfectly. The sand dome is not typical, but I
found a loco similar in a Chas. Small book with a replaced dome such as
that.

Bogies (trucks) Macleod
Western styrene 1/4" NCO 5' wheel
base trucks will also work for some nice arch bar bogies. Another
interesting truck, though not prototypical is the HO Kadee logging disconnect. It is a good looking
truck and does work well for a double bogie car.

On30 arch-bar freight car trucks are good.

Crane
An old Hornby OO-scale crane, has wheel rims from a 1/24th Model T Ford as
winding gear built on a scratchbuilt chassis.
