Even though there is a fairly good selection of models in G-scale, there are
some large gaps in what is available. Luckily, there are more than a few models
from other hobby areas or scales that are usable. The following is not a
comprehensive list but shows models that can or have been used in Gn15 modelling
that you might not have thought about using.

Structure Ratio Plastic Models
00-scale coal loader suitable as a Gn15 sand or gravel loader.

Structure
Pic shows three oil tanks. I'm
sure you will recognise the Ratio OO tank
on the right. The small tank on the left is an O scale resin casting from Smoky Bottom Lumber Company and the large
tank in the background is from a German O scale standard gauge tank wagon (O-scale
Models). As an aside the Ratio tank supports are also a perfect fit
for the Sidelines oil drum.

| Structure I got some supposedly 1:35
scale brick wall sections that Tamiya
offers for making military dioramas, and the bricks scale out just about
perfect for 1:24 (at least for U.S. bricks, perhaps continental European
bricks are larger?).

Structure - corrugated iron
4D modelshop ltd
are a supplier of architectural supplies in London, England. Lots of useful
parts for G-scale including 3mm pitch corrugated iron (to be perfect scale
it should be 3.3mm pitch - they also do 4mm if you prefer). A small range of
figures, furniture, window and doors, etc.

Structure - bricks
Ever wanted to build your own structures
brick-by-brick? Well, now you can... Richard Stacey Miniature Brick & Stone
Products make 1:24 scale bricks and roofing tiles.
www.richardstacey.com
Would also be very useful for layouts based around a
brickworks as they make roof tiles as well as bricks.

Structure - bricks
Tamiya bricks, part no. is 35028, and the kit includes 2 of the pictured
sprues. The figure is from Tamiya's 1:24 "Campus Friends" set.

Vehicle
1:24 scale die-cast Fiat 500
picked up at a Lidl Supermarket a couple of months ago for £1.99. You will
be lucky to find one now though, they don't stay around for long.

| Vehicle Have not got one yet, but
Tesco's currently have some 1:18 scale motorbikes, the bikes themselves are
not much good for us, but the engines are nicely detailed and would be ideal
for a small loco, compressor, pump or many other uses. Probably some of the
other parts could be used too.

| Vehicle Tamiya
make a 1:24 (original) Mini car.
John Oxlade, UK |
Vehicle
Found at Tesco. Says underneath that it is a 1937 Ford, but there is a V8
under the removable hood which I'm not sure is correct for this vintage.
Anyway nice model and a bargain at £3.99.

accessory
Italeri,
1:24 scale truck accessory set.

| Accessory The
Tamiya oil drums work well. Not really exact scale, but they look
good in a scene.

Accessory
Italeri,
1:35 scale a military field workshop. Although the wrong scale, the tools
work fine for 1:22.5.

Accessory I came across the
1:35 sand bags by both Italeri and Tamiya.
The Tamiya are approx 24mm by 13mm, comprise two sections and 24
in the box for about £3.27 (lost the receipt!). The Italeri are 19 x
11mm one piece and 60 in the box for under £3.00.
Cleaning up the flash allows for a little "reshaping" to suitable
small sacks for wagon load and spreading around the scene.
