The coach, box van and open wagon are available in different liveries

Introduction

None of the freight stock in the Märklin Minex range is an accurate model of any prototype and as such, they are perhaps of more interest to Märklin collectors than modellers concerned about prototypical accuracy.

The box van and open wagon are similar to some built for the Königlich Württembergische Staats-Eisenbahnen (K.W.St.E.) from 1894 onwards, however both models are missing the third, middle axle of the prototypes (which would not be easy to correct).

The box vans (available in three different paint schemes) were not included in either the passenger or freight starter-sets and as such are more scarce than any other Minex model; and consequently fetch a higher price.

Apart from changing the wheels for 2-rail DC (available from Rolf Tonner and Addie Modell), and accepting the models do not match a specific prototype, the box van and open wagon are reasonably pleasing to the eye.

The tipper wagon in the range definitely has no prototype and is more of a toy than a serious model.
